Announcements at IT2EC
VBS Builder Edition release
BISim has announced VBS Builder Edition, an affordable yet full-featured product for software developers to author and deploy complex solutions rapidly. Unlike typical game engines, VBS Builder Edition offers developers a powerful and feature-rich simulation framework with editors, APIs, and tools and a massive amount of terrain and 3D model content ready to be customized and extended for any imaginable solution. See the press release here.
New partnerships
BISim will announce an exciting new partnership on the first day of the show. This partnership will enable unprecedented realism in built-up areas in VBS. This partnership will open up new training use cases, from tactical training in populated megacities to simulating riots and other first-response scenarios. Keep an eye out for the press release on 9 April 2024.
Blackshark terrain data in VBS
Following the bIackshark.ai and BISim partnership announced in 2023, we are proud to present at IT2EC 2024 the high-fidelity blackshark.ai terrain data within VBS. This exceptional content, covering the entire globe, showcases buildings with rich details derived from satellite imagery, significantly enhancing the realism of urban landscapes in VBS. As a result, built-up areas in VBS are now rendered with unparalleled real-world accuracy, redefining the standards for virtual environment detail and immersion.
LuxCarta Geodata for Simulation
BISim and Luxcarta have been working together for several years to deliver high-quality terrain, and this partnership continues into 2024. The LuxCarta BrightEarth integration with Mantle allows for quick and automated processing of satellite imagery into 3D simulation-ready terrain. LuxCarta data is ready to use in VBS4, Blue IG, and any other export we support through Mantle (our terrain platform - see here). Our Robotyne Ukraine terrain sample featuring LuxCarta data will be showcased in our ITEC 2024 booth.
VBS4 and Blue IG 24.1 Release
The latest versions of Blue IG and VBS4 24.1 will be released at the end of May 2024, along with many new enhancements. Blue IG now supports global airports and synthetic aperture radar (SAR). VBS4 has additional new content, including all major gun-tank variants of the T-72 and a new feature that allows any UAV to drop improvised munitions or have impact-detonating munitions. Performance improvements have resulted in faster in-game access to the Real Time Editor (RTE) and higher frame rates during AAR playback. And, for the first time, VBS Control AI is now default in 24.1, which is a big step toward removing all legacy “game” AI from the product. Keep an eye out for the press release with all the details, closer to the 24.1 release date.
Presentations and Events
BISim's President, Rahul C. Thakkar, at DisTec: How to simplify and speed up the building and deploying of complex simulation solutions... at lower costs
Wednesday, 10th April, from 11:00-11:30 at the DisTec Theatre in the IT²EC Conference Hall.
There is a massive demand for immersive and game-based technologies in the military simulation domain. Technologies to build computer games have become more accessible in recent years, with several leading game engines and online marketplaces to choose from. However, creating bespoke applications using these engines can be expensive and time-consuming, requiring multiple development teams or costly outsourcing.
Building a complex, viable, multi-domain, scalable, multi-user simulator can take many years. This presentation describes how new technology from BISim can simplify and speed up the building and deployment of complex simulation solutions at lower costs.
Peter Morrison, BISim’s CPO, at IT2EC: Tactical AI and training for the next Ukraine
Tuesday, 9th April, from 15:30-16:00 in the Human Performance track.
The Ukrainian conflict has seen WW2-era trench warfare coupled with new technology such as drones and modern sensors. Military organizations worldwide are updating their doctrine and ORBATs to exploit and defend against these new technologies. Simulation and artificial intelligence (AI) will enable new tactics, techniques, and procedures to be tested in a safe, virtual environment before expensive acquisitions and field deployments. The presentation will describe the next steps in developing new tactical AI technology that can be scaled using the cloud.
VBS + Mantle Information Session
Wednesday, 10th April, from 13:30-15:00 at SG22 in the IT²EC Conference Hall.
BISim invites military and industry delegates and media personnel to gain insights into our products and stay updated on the latest advancements in the VBS Builder Edition. Register here.
Wargaming Sessions
Join sessions in the DiSTech Theatre on Tuesday 9th April 13:30 - 16:00 for an introduction to wargaming in military education and to explore wargaming as an effective training tool and how the method can be more widely exploited by training communities. Register here.
Beers from Around the World
Wednesday, 10th April, from 17:00 onwards at the BISim booth #B20.
Join us for a beer sampling event featuring a selection of beers from our office locations around the world.
At VRAI, our mission is to redefine exceptional human performance through better training, unlocking every individual’s full potential in order to help save lives. We believe human performance data is currently the untapped resource in simulation training and have built our product - HEAT- to transform this resource into actionable insights.
Experience Actionable Insights with HEAT
VRAI will give visitors the opportunity to engage with HEAT, the training technology developed by VRAI. Now, with integration capabilities with VBS4, HEAT is adding value for VBS4 users, enabling them to capture, store, analyze, and visualize data that will improve human performance. Attendees will be invited to take control of a Remote Weapons System on a Boxer Vehicle in a VBS4 simulation scenario. Following the completion of this scenario, they will then be guided through the HEAT dashboard, where they will receive detailed analyses of their performance, provided with actionable insights and areas for improvement. Armed with these data driven insights from HEAT, participants will undergo the scenario once more, applying the insights gained to enhance their performance outcomes.
D3A Defence, is a UK veteran owned and operated business, providing Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP) to deliver and enhance military training and simulation evolutions globally.
