Please introduce yourself.
Hello, my name is Alessandro, and I work for BISim in Italy as a technical designer. I joined BISim more than a year ago after serving in the Italian military for eleven years. I spent my final years in the military as a developer for a Virtual Training and Development Center that used BISim's products extensively.
What inspired you to pursue a career in this field?
Growing up, my childhood was quite unique. Unlike many other kids my age, I enjoyed playing serious and simulation games. I relished the opportunity to engage in problem-solving, decision-making, and strategic thinking through these games. In fact, when I joined the Army, I discovered that I already possessed useful military skills as a result of the time I had spent playing simulation games as a child.
A few years later, my passion for virtual simulations was noticed, and I was given an opportunity to join the Army's virtual simulation community as a developer. As my aspirations grew, I decided to pursue a career in military simulation technology and approached BISim as I knew I would get to work with like-minded individuals and learn from talented people.
How have you grown professionally since you joined BISim?
When I first started, I was responsible for designing and implementing new features for our products. Since then, I have taken on more responsibility for interacting with customers firsthand, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure that product feature design meets customer requirements and quality standards.
This career path has allowed me to strengthen my collaboration skills. Working on complex projects with cross-functional teams has required me to develop effective communication skills and efficiently collaborate with others.
What’s the most unique part about working at BISim?
I would say that the opportunity to work alongside high performers is the best part about working at BISim. It is very motivating to be surrounded by individuals who are passionate about their work and strive to produce exceptional results. They are always willing to share their knowledge and work with you to achieve common goals. In my one year at BISim, I have formed strong bonds with my colleagues and have grown so much professionally and personally.
