Farnborough, UK- Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a global developer of military training and simulation software, announced the integration of its Defence Virtual Simulation 2 (DVS2) software with Elbit Systems UK’s Interim Combined Arms Virtual Simulation (Deployable) (ICAVS(D)) platform for the British Army. DVS2 software will provide ICAVS(D) users with enhanced simulation, terrain generation capabilities, and AI planning tools, offering the British Army with a more realistic and immersive training experience.
The upgrade of ICAVS(D) to DVS2 software takes full advantage of BISim's ongoing commitment to delivering the latest, state-of-the-art military training and simulation software. This partnership will help prepare the British Army for the complex and evolving challenges of modern warfare.
DVS2 is the UK MOD’s common virtual simulation tool, providing interoperable, accessible, and deployable virtual simulation capability across the MOD and industry. The DVS2 capability enables simulated activity across all levels of training, as well as operations planning and rehearsal, decision support, and research and development.
The ability to fully integrate DVS2 at this early stage of both DVS2 and ICAVS(D) project life is a great success story for both project teams. It was great to see the collaborative support that was provided on site by the BISim team that certainly paid dividends to the smooth running of the exercise and consequent ICAVS(D) system acceptance ahead of schedule. It will be great to see how the development roadmap for DVS2 will open even more opportunities and avenues for the British Army to explore within their training while using ICAVS(D).
In April 2022, the UK MOD selected BISim’s VBS4 and VBS Blue IG products as its DVS2 solution. VBS4 and VBS Blue IG enable DVS2 users to upgrade their training capabilities, taking advantage of the ease-of-use, performance and feature enhancements provided by the new software.
Designed as a pathfinder project for the British Army’s Collective Training Transformation Programme, ICAVS(D) entered into service in April last year.
The ICAVS(D) training capability is the first in the British Army to use the DVS2 software. In addition to many other new features, users will be able to access a large content library, edit terrains more quickly, and train in virtual environments located anywhere on Earth.
Founded in 2001, Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a wholly-owned subsidiary of BAE Systems, Inc, is a global software company at the forefront of simulation and training solutions for defence and civilian organisations.
Globally, many hundreds of thousands of military personnel are trained every year using BISim’s high-fidelity VBS software products. More than 60 NATO and NATO-friendly countries, and over 300 integrators/prime contractors use VBS technology, many making significant funding commitments to extend VBS product capabilities. BISim’s customers include the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, UK MOD, Canadian Armed Forces, French Army, Bundeswehr, Swedish Armed Forces, Australian Defence Force, New Zealand Defence Force and many major system integrators.
