ORLANDO, USA — Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a global developer of advanced military simulation and training software, announces the release of TerraTools 23.2, the latest iteration of its cutting-edge virtual terrain generation software.
TerraTools 23.2 introduces a multitude of enhancements, including new nodes and node properties, a CDB plug-in, and an Export VBS Blue Source plug-in, enabling greater accuracy and customization of terrain generation.
This update is available to all customers with active maintenance and support contracts. Current users can download the software installer and get detailed updates on new features here.
Key Features of TerraTools 23.2
Main Application:
-
New Nodes: TerraTools 23.2 introduces nine new nodes to increase processing capacity, including five core nodes, three CDB plug-in nodes, and a new VBS Blue Source plug-in node.
-
Core Nodes:
- Build Airfield Signs: Creates airfield signs based on correctly attributed source data.
- Combine Digital Elevation Models (DEMs): Allows the integration of multiple DEMs into a single image.
- Import ESRI TIN: Imports a TIN dataset into TerraTools as a DEM.
- Inspect Data Bounds: Returns bounds information for input data in various coordinate systems.
- Export Geopackage: Exports TerraTools vector features to the Geopackage file format, allowing a variety of programs to use the data, including QGIS.
-
CDB Plug-in Nodes:
- Import CDB Elevation (VRT) and Import CDB Imagery (VRT) use the GDAL Virtual Format (VRT) to import source data from a CDB and output it as a JSON file, which can be fed into the Export VBS Blue Source node.
- Export CDB Combined: Consolidates a group of CDB exports into a single CDB, allowing data to be used in large-area exports, such as those made by Batch Mode Manager.
-
VBS Blue Source Node:
- Import GDAL Data Source: Imports imagery or elevation data and converts it to the geodetic coordinate system for use with the Export VBS Blue Source node. This enables a much broader range of data sources to be imported into VBS4 or Blue IG, as well as greatly improving the overall processing times in TerraTools when exporting data directly to VBS Blue runtimes.
-
Core Nodes:
Batch Mode Manager:
Batch Mode Manager is a component of TerraTools that enables users to automate and manage batch processing tasks, making it easier to process large volumes of data, simulations, or other operations in a batch or automatically. Some of the new features introduced in this update to the Batch Mode Manager are:
- New Priority Field: Set priority levels on individual phases for enhanced control over data processing in Batch Mode Manager.
- New Heartbeat Frequency Option: Detects and reconnects disconnected workers in Remote Distributed Batch Mode Manager.
VBS Blue Source Plug-in:
The TerraTools VBS Blue Source Plug-in is a software component that integrates TerraTools with VBS Blue, enabling seamless data exchange and compatibility between the two platforms.
- Enhanced Compatibility: TerraTools 23.2 supports VBS4 23.2, Blue IG 23.2, and VBS World Server 23.2.
- Improved Export VBS Blue Source Node Properties: It includes 18 new settings for greater customization of VBS4 or Blue IG exports.
- Quality of Life and Performance Improvements: Enhanced features include removal regions for custom water data and new lightmap enhancements.
- Attribution Options: New options for rendering individual layers of roads for improved road customization.
