ORLANDO, Fla. (USA) - Bohemia Interactive Simulations is launching the BISim Terrain Conference on July 15-16 to showcase the company’s latest modular, cloud-capable technology for creating, editing and managing geospatial source data for military simulation.
Hosted by the terrain experts at TerraSim, a BISim company, this 2-day series of presentations and demonstrations will introduce attendees to BISim’s modular, cloud-enabled World Server technology. TerraSim presenters will show how users can take full control of their terrain data, and demonstrate how easily the World Server technology can be modified to suit a multitude of simulation needs. Attendees will also see examples of how to use TerraTools and VBS Geo to support a range of use cases including building out urban areas and airfields. In these one-hour presentations, we’ll invite you to ask questions of our product experts and our special guests.
The sessions will run twice each day at 8:30 am EDT (2:30 pm CEST) and 1:00 pm EDT (10:00 am PDT). The afternoon sessions will cover the same material as the morning session, so participants only need to sign up for one session each day (unless you really love the topic so much that you feel you should attend twice).
Day 1 - Wednesday, July 15
Addressing the Terrain Problem: Intro to BISim’s World Server Technology
REGISTER HERE for Day 1 Morning Session, Wednesday July 15 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am (EDT)
REGISTER HERE for Day 1 Afternoon Session, Wednesday July 15 @ 1:00 pm -2:00 pm (EDT)
In these sessions, we’ll look at BISim’s novel approach to managing global terrain data for simulation with a deep dive into our World Server technology. The World Server technology is designed from first principles to leverage cutting-edge networking, cloud deployment, procedural enhancement capabilities, and is built on open standards to facilitate easy enhancement with future technology advancements. We call it a technology, not a product, because it offers a foundation for our COTS products (VBS World Server and, in the future, a version of TerraTools) but also can be a starting point for a fully customized terrain serving and storage solution. You’ll see how BISim’s World Server technologies stand apart from traditional terrain servers and how our tech helps address the challenge of managing dozens of disparate data sources through a modular, open approach.
Day 2 - Thursday, July 16
From Space to Grass and Ocean Floor: Building Terrain for Simulation
REGISTER HERE for Day 2 Morning Session, Thursday July 16 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am (EDT)
REGISTER HERE for Day 2 Afternoon Session, Thursday July 16 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm (EDT)
In these sessions, we’ll showcase the suite of tools that BISim and TerraSim provide customers for working with all kinds of data sources — legacy or emerging. Whether you want to refine and quickly edit procedural terrain in VBS4, correlate to game engines like Unity or Unreal, or import new data sources including LiDAR and drone captures, we have the tools to efficiently prepare that data for a simulated world. Join TerraSim, BISim and special guests for demonstrations of our product suite and find out more about our open, extensible and cloud-enabled terrain services.
“Over many years, militaries have used simulation systems designed by many different companies and using a wide array of often incompatible terrain data sources,” said Earl Laamanen, TerraSim’s Technical Director. “This makes terrain data management expensive, complex and prevents troops from training together using a common operating picture. We’re looking forward to showing customers the new technologies we’ve developed that help address the challenge of managing these disparate data sources.”
About Bohemia Interactive Simulations
Founded in 2001, Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim) is a global software company at the forefront of simulation and training solutions for defense and civilian organizations. BISim utilizes the latest game-based technology and a 200-strong, in-house team of engineers to develop high-fidelity, cost-effective training and simulation software products and components for defense applications.
Globally, more than 500,000 military personnel are trained every year using VBS software products. More than 50 NATO and NATO-friendly countries and over 250 integrators/prime contractors use VBS technology, many making significant funding commitments to extend VBS product capabilities. Customers include the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, Australian Defence Force, Swedish Armed Forces, French MoD and UK MoD and most major integrators. VBS products have become, by far, the world’s most widely used COTS product range in the military-simulation sector, supporting hundreds of military use cases and vastly greater military exploitation than any comparable products.
