VBS IG Features Performance Improvements and Robust AAR Capabilities

ORLANDO, Florida — Bohemia Interactive Simulations, a global developer of advanced military training and simulation software, will release the latest version of VBS IG, its computer image generation software that provides high-fidelity, game-quality 3D visuals for out-the-window and multi-channel views for all types of simulators, on September 8.

Using the CIGI standard, VBS IG integrates with existing host software. Users can build databases for VBS IG with standard GIS products and can use existing databases built with many commercially available tools, like TerraTools from TerraSim, that support the VBS terrain format. A software development kit is available for VBS IG that allows developers to customize virtually every aspect of VBS IG and produce custom applications. A version of VBS IG is used on the U.S. Army’s largest vehicle simulation programs.

“VBS IG v17.3 continues to improve upon system performance and offers higher stable frames rates,” said Cory Kumm, vice president of corporate development. “The latest version also provides increased accuracy and reliable image synchronization for complex simulation systems.”

In the latest version, VBS IG now enables users to record events from each viewport and replay them in the After Action Review of the VBS3 host and in the VBS IG view. The VBS3 host can focus on these individual viewports in the AAR, controlling and highlighting units in view during the events of a specific interaction.

VBS IG v17.3 also features improvements to channel synchronization by synchronizing the frames-per-second between all IG channels to the IG with the slowest reported frame rate. This forces all IGs to render to the screen at the same time, for the same frame.  

In addition, VBS IG also features more reliable particle synchronization between the VBS3 Host and VBS IG clients. In the latest version of VBS IG, users are able to pause the scene and particles effects and rotate around them. Now users experience seamless correlation of particles between host and client in VBS IG v17.3.

The latest version also improves the ease and reliability of terrain modification and synchronization of modifications between the VBS3 Host and VBS IG clients.
